Looking back over the Christmas season it is a joy to be a part of MZBC. There are so many activities going on that focus on Jesus Christ and encourages when it can be so easy to get lost in all the hustle and bustle that comes with this special time of the year. Our cantata, "The Journey of Christmas" was a highlight. It is always so amazing how the Lord brings the cast, crew, choir, and leaders together to be a blessing and get the Gospel out to those who would not normally come. Also, seventy people went caroling to those who are shut-in; we had a mall sing with many shoppers stopping to listen or sing along; our Junior Choirs had their own cantata which is always so fun. The children love to sing; and finally we had a church wide fellowship with preaching from Pastor Chris Starr, games, and of course, plenty of food.
Happening Now Our church theme for 2016 is "...furnished unto all good works." We have been equipped with Bible verses on a ring to memorize a verse a week and all are encouraged to memorize the books of the Bible. If you are looking for an evangelistic church to be a part of Mount Zion is a great place to be. Our visitation program is full of people loving, serving, and witnessing for the Lord and He has blessed this ministry. We had three families visit on Sunday as a result of people going out and inviting others to come. The theme for the youth group is "Grow Up", Colossians 2:6-7. Our Youth Group meets on Wednesday nights at 7:30 and have their own Sunday School class. They have monthly activities with February's activity being a volleyball tournament. They enjoy being together and serving the Lord. Boys Basketball is meeting on Monday nights for a time of learning, a challenge from the Word, and playing the game. This is enjoyed by the boys and all the spectators that show up to watch. It really is a church wide activity. Pastor is currently teaching in the adult Sunday School Class on the men in Proverbs, then a series in the evening, "Why We Are Different", and "Biblical Discernment in A Digital World” on Wednesday nights.
A Look Ahead A "Couples Weekend" is planned for February 12-14. Friday night will be a date night for couples. We will be having cookies and ice cream with Dr. Terry Coomer encouraging us in God's Word, a Sweetheart Banquet is planned for Saturday evening, and Dr. Coomer will be preaching all services on Sunday. We are looking forward to this weekend of encouragement from God's Word and time with our mate.
