We must pause here, in these opening verses to the familiar and final chapter of the book of Proverbs, to recognize the wisdom, faithfulness, and influence of Lemuel’s mother. I would like to take the opening verses of this chapter to help encourage the mothers who are reading this to learn wisdom, that you might be able to apply it to your own life, and pass it on to your children. Do not let the fact that you are not called to lead your family keep you from being able to equip your son’s to lead a kingdom. God is calling you to one day be the older woman who will teach the younger. Lemuel’s mother possessed wisdom, and did not shrink back from making concrete applications to her son. I would encourage you to take her example to heart. God is calling you, today, to possess wisdom, that you might bring Him glory, as you apply it, and teach it to others.
