"An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked." Proverbs 29:27
Well, this passage puts a real damper on the idea of world peace and global harmony doesn’t it? According to our text, the righteous and the unrighteous mutually disgust one another. This isn’t some big misunderstanding, nor is it a lack of education or tolerance. The gulf that exists between the righteous and the wicked exists at the very core of their being. The righteous refuse to compromise their biblical convictions, while the wicked refuse to compromise their moral freedom and autonomy. Amos speaks very clearly to this when he asks the question, “Can two walk together unless they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3). The answer to that question is a resounding no. May God give us the wisdom to see this point clearly.
