Beautiful Daughters of Wisdom
In Africa, you will often hear the phrase, 'We're African.' That is obvious and acceptable, unless it is used as a way of excusing sinful behaviour, especially sexual sin. Luke begins to open up a new section here, that explains how Jesus went about His ministry. Also, the fact that a number of women were with Him. Traditionally, women stayed inside the home. But Jesus had women friends who were actually disciples! This was a shocking new trend in the culture of the day. Jesus consistently shows His superiority over culture and social issues. Both men and women can learn from the examples of the women Jesus called. Women have a remarkable role to play in church life. God wants women to dream bit and to be efficient because God uses them. Men should be warned not to hinder women from serving well and enthusiastically.
