I know most Pastor/preachers have that sermon that they have preached over the years that they will pull it out of the file and preach it again at a revival or Bible Conference. One of those sermons for me is in reference to the Church at Laodicea found in Revelation 3. Most of you know the story, it was a Church that seemingly had everything (money, fine clothes, etc)but, in reality had nothing. Jesus Christ rebukes them for their self centeredness and tells them they are in need of God's riches, God's righteousness and the eyesalve that God gives to help them see. I want to preface my next statement with this I do not believe the seven Churches of Asia Minor are representing seven Church ages. However, many Churches fall into the Laodicean trap. They think because they have money in the bank, nice cars in the driveway and have a few people coming to Church then everything is good.
The fact is the Lord's NT Churches needs power from God so they can honor and glorify him and they must rely on him to see souls saved and added to His work. We must remember this is God's work and not ours.and that no matter how we try to manufacture decisions or his power that all is in vain except God do the work. Let us not be "The Kind of Church that makes Jesus Sick" May we as the Lord's Churches preach with power and boldness, trusting God to give the increase and to provide our needs.
