Everyday Wisdom | Proverbs 29:2

"When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn." Proverbs 29:2

This seems strangely repetitive doesn’t it? It was just a few verses back that Solomon gave us a very similar statement. While there are different ways that we could apply this verse, I want to encourage you to let the truth found here, motivate you to resist indifference in relation to politics. While we know that God is sovereign, we also know that many times, God chooses to use means, in order to providentially bring about His will. It is very easy to become disgusted, and cynical toward a corrupt system that seems to be spiraling downward. However, as we pray for godly leaders, and seek to prevent the wicked from coming to power, our trust is in God, not man. God delights in being merciful to His people; so why would we be cynical about asking Him to mercifully raise up godly leaders?
