God’s word tells us plainly that we are hungry deep down in our hearts, regardless of what our tongues may speak. Matthew 5:6, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.” We all both hunger and thirst after Jesus or the world system, one or the other.

The question should be, are you hungry for God and do you thirst for the living water which Jesus gives, or is it for the world which will soon pass away? If you gained the whole world it would not really satisfy you and you would soon have to pass on and leave it anyway.

How hungry and how thirsty are we for Jesus? Now I am sure this is a dull subject to most people. That is why they are not happy. He said He alone can fill us with the peace and joy we seek. You won’t find it in the bar room, casino, or dance hall of harlots. All the sex, pornography and perversion of earth will never quench your thirst or fulfill your inmost desires. Dope can never be a substitute for Jesus, and sin can never take His place.

If you have been looking for peace and joy, turn to Him today. Let Him save your soul and make you whole. Then will come the appetite for spiritual things that quench your thirst and satisfy your hunger for eternity.
