THE KING OF GLORY TUNE TO "My Faith Has Found a Resting Place" CM/DOUBLE Words by Jim Byrd
1. O hear the ransomed army sing, "Salvation to our God." All glory to our mighty King, Who on the earth once trod. The Lamb of God came down to earth, To save His chosen race; Behold His wondrous, virgin birth, What condescending grace.
2. Christ dwelt on this terrestrial ball, A wonder, I confess! He came to save us from the fall, And bring in righteousness. So at that long appointed hour, The Savior bled and died; His sacrifice had mighty pow’r, The law He satisfied.
3. Christ triumphed over death and sin, And went back to His throne; Soon He will come to earth again, To take His people home. Then all the ransomed host will sing, And on Him honors pour; Proclaim the glories of the King, And worship evermore.

***** Christ Sets the Captives Free A wealthy and philanthropic individual visits a prison and approaches the dungeon in which a wretched captive lies bound with chains and fetters, and strongly secured within walls, and doors, and bars. He proclaims loud to the captive that he has brought gold sufficient for a ransom on condition that the captive will liberate himself from his chains, burst open his prison doors, and come forth. "Alas," exclaims the wretched man, "your kindness does not reach my case. Unless your gold can effect my deliverance, it can be of no service to me. The offer of it on such terms can do me no good."
Now, although there is a great difference between physical and spiritual inability, yet one serves to illustrate the other. Man by nature is as spiritually unable to believe in Christ as the prisoner is physically unable to break his chains and open the prison doors; so that all this boasted sufficiency of the atonement is only an empty offer of salvation on certain terms and conditions; and such an atonement is much too weak to meet the desperate case of a lost sinner.
But, how different is the salvation of God! "By the blood of Thy covenant, I have sent forth Thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water" (Zechariah 9:11). Jesus, by His death, hath paid the ransom and made the captives His own. Therefore, He has a legal right to their persons, and with His own right He brings them forth. It is glorifying to His grace to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. "I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; to open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house" (Isaiah 42:6-7). –William Rushton (edited)
***** EQUALLY RIGHTEOUS
I saw identical twins a few days ago. Of course they were dressed exactly alike so that I could not discern the difference between those little fellas, though I am certain mom and dad could tell them apart. Neither boy could ever complain of parental favoritism as to their attire for they were identically clothed. So it is with the sons of God. Though each is loved by the Lord with an individual, everlasting love, yet when set alongside the other children of God, they are alike. All of His children are the Lord’s favorites; all are special to Him and all are "predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son" (Romans 8:29). All are saved by the same grace, ransomed by the same price and equally righteous through "the LORD our Righteousness" (Jeremiah 23:6). The obedience of the blessed Savior has been imputed to us; one garment covers all of the Father’s little ones. "I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels." (Isaiah 61:10). In Jesus Christ all of the Lord’s children are beautiful, having neither "spot, or blemish or any such thing" (Ephesians 5:27). Each child of God blesses the name of the Father who commanded, "bring forth the best robe, and put it on him" (Luke 15:22). In that great, eternal day when the saints of God will finally be gathered together at the throne of the Lamb, we shall all be dressed in the righteousness of Christ. "And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb" (Revelation 7:13-14). –Pastor Jim Byrd, Thirteenth Street Baptist Church
