The fact that we have an office of weights and measures shows that we like to have a measured, sure constant in our life. We want to make sure that the price we are charged per gallon/liter of gas/petrol we pump is the right amount. We like these units because they are constant and we can compare our measures with an official measure. If ours doesn't stack up to the literal ruler we can either trim or add or do away with and make sure we are set to the same standard.

And that's one of the reasons we should love God's Law. It shows us the place to stand. It shows us what to hack off or need to add. It's also one of the reasons why we don't like the Law. The Law shows us where we are failing. It shows us a true mirror reflection of us and shows us that we aren't as pretty as we thought we were. The Law is the standard and the Holy Spirit is the office of weights and measures. It is through Him we recognize where we are lacking and it is through Him we have the power to change and be conformed to the renewing of our mind!
