In Titus 3:10-11, Paul charged the Church with these words, âA man that is an HERETIC after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.â In a word study of the Greek New Testament we learn that the word heretic is a Greek word that has come over into the English language having essentially the same meaning. In the Greek language the word heretic means to choose. Paul charges Titus to admonish a heretic only to a certain point, once, twice, and no more knowing that such a person is âsubvertedâ (warped may be a better word) and sinneth. The heretic has not been converted but subverted, twisted off his foundation. These are those who never were in the faith of Christ, but did have the light of natural religion, and in doctrine they have been âsubverted.â Paul tells us that the heretic is warped and twisted off his foundation. There are foundational doctrines, which are vital to true Christianity: the absolute inspiration and infallibility of the Scriptures, the doctrine of the Trinity, the deity and virgin birth of Christ, the creation and fall of mankind in its federal head and representative Adam, a substitutionary atonement, the bodily resurrection and ascension of Christ, the regeneration of believers, the personal return of Christ, and the resurrection and final assignment of all men to eternal blessedness or eternal destruction. Protestant religion today is full and running over with those who deny these vital doctrines. Presbyterian, Methodist, Lutheran, and Baptist alike are plagued by these impostors who are twisted off their foundation. These deceivers are very cunning. They are illusive when questioned on these vital doctrines by one of their congregation. Never expect a straight answer; they will not give a yes or no when asked if they deny these fundamental truths. Know that the word âliberalâ is not a popular term; many have toned it down to âmoderateâ. It adds up to this, they are âblind leaders,â and âif the blind lead the blind both will fall into the ditchâ (Hell). These men that I refer to are heretics. I pointed out in the meaning of the original Greek word; the word means âTo choose.â They have chosen the way in which they are going, which is the way of destruction. But you who have them for pastors do not have to choose to go with them. I would not subject myself and venture my eternal soul to a man or denominational system that is biblically untrue. Jesus said this, ââŚTo this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voiceâ (John 18:37). You might join with Pilate and sarcastically ask, âWhat is truth?â TRUTH is absolute, TRUTH is systematically consistent, TRUTH has no tolerance, does not vary, nor compromise. Are you identified with and contending for the TRUTH?
