Wanna know a secret?

Monday is controversy day. As you get older you like to "mellow out" a little. You don't like fighting every day. There's so much good and positive to pass on to the next generation Body of Christ. But there's still a lot of "stuff" that the church needs addressing. Never be afraid to challenge books, charts, seminars, big names, Christian movies. You can do it in love, but there is false teaching all around, and it needs to be confronted "for the elect's sake."

Take for example Matthew 24. Prediction of a destruction of Jerusalem, right? And almost all the books (read 'em) say that that destruction was fulfilled in A.D. 70, right? And the "abomination of desolation" took place that year too, when Titus desecrated the Temple, right?

I say, very wrong. Here's a couple of reasons for you to ponder. We'll talk more about these things as the Mondays go by. (And for those who may understand what I'm saying, my! do they go by quickly these days!)

Reason 1: Jesus introduced this passage and this series of events by saying (verse 2) that "... not one stone" would be left on another after the events had been accomplished. Less than 40 years after He spoke the words, Titus comes to Jerusalem with his destroying army. What devastation! What horror! This must have fulfilled what Jesus said, right? Wrong. Ever heard of the "wailing wall"? Jews don't like that term but it's a huge retaining wall from the days of Jesus and the Temple of Herod. Still standing. The Romans, I hear, left things standing as a rude reminder of what they could have done but didn't do.

This prophecy is not fulfilled.Okay, I'm a literalist. Yep. I believe every Word of the Grand Old Book. And this word from Jesus' lips has not been fulfilled. Even the "wailing wall" will go in that day, amidst a whole lot of wailing.

Reason 2. Still with me? Take a look at verse 21. "Then..." When? At the time of this destruction, this abomination, this horror, THEN will be the all time worst tribulation of history. Well, A.D. 70 was pretty bad, but even the Jews have had worse times than this. Six million of them... you know the story. And the rest of the world, what about the World Wars, and so on?

Jesus said that the time of this prophecy's fulfillment coincides with Earth's greatest tragedy, AND, read on, is followed by the rapture of the Church, and the coming of Jesus. Sorry to burst a few pre-trib bubbles too, but that is what it says: "...AFTER the tribulation...His angels ...will gather together His elect... from one end of Heaven to the other." Pretty plain.

Jesus did not come in A.D. 70. This entire prophecy, and the matching ones in Mark and Luke, are still future.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Do it in love. Let's keep the communication going, but let's say only what the Word says, stripped of theologians and speculations human intelligence and guesswork.

Lord willing, talk to you tomorrow, "inspiration" day.
