From the pen of Brother Dennis Sampson, In Matthew 14:30 Peter saw the wind boisterous or strong. Often we look at that as Peter saw the effects of the wind of the surrounding storm and got scarred about that. But he was already willing to step out of the safety of the boat knowing the storm was raging. In scripture the wind is a type of the Holy Spirit and He was also moving. We as frail fearful Christians can be overwhelmed by the awesome display of God's power and look at the scary situation not realizing it is ALL the Lord at work that we are beholding. His power in action can be scary. How often do we do just like Peter, we know if we step out on faith that the storm is waiting for us but when we see God start to work in an unexpected way we start having doubts because things are not going as WE planned? Just like Peter though we find we were really in the Lord's will because when we call out to be saved from the situation He is immediately right there to pull us through.
