"As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come." Proverbs 26:2

While this seems like an odd tid-bit of proverbial wisdom; this passage is a nugget of gold when applied to the life of one who is in pursuit of understanding. The essence of the verse is that an unjust curse or slander will not stay in existence very long. Let’s suppose that you are doing your best to live a life that honors God, and out of envy and spite, and individual begins to manufacture lies about you, trying to ruin your reputation. According to this, if the slander is false, it will not be believed as credible, and it will be forgotten as quickly as it was manufactured. The wisdom in this is that we do not have to try and answer or defend ourselves, every time we are slandered. Many times people will drive themselves crazy trying to protect their reputation, when in fact; they are giving their slanderers a platform they would not have had if the slander had just been ignored. An individual who is abiding in Christ will not live a sinless life, but they will live a life that is above slander and scandal. We can trust God with our reputations, and spend our time and energy serving Him rather than defending ourselves.
