According to Ephesians Chapter 1 verses 3-7, the Apostle Paul gives what God has planned for every believer. Here is a question: Do you know what God’s eternal plan is for your life? Do you realize that if you are a true believer in Christ and trusting the finished work of Christ upon the cross, God has an eternal plan for you? First of all, let’s look at the blessings that are given to us by God. When we think of blessings, most if not all of us think of physical or earthly blessings. Scripturally speaking, that is only a small part of it. Yes, God does bless us physically and earthly. The scripture says in James 1:17, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” But God also blesses eternally, which means “forever.” First, God’s blessings are spiritual and heavenly not only materially. Secondly, God’s blessings are of the Holy Spirit. Remember the words of Christ when He told His Apostles just prior to His crucifixion, “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.” (John 14:16) Thirdly, God’s blessings are more superior to our earthly blessings. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.” (Matthew 6:19-20) Fourthly, God’s blessings are found only in the finished work of Christ
Secondly, we are chosen, predestined and adopted by God Himself. Notice what it says in Ephesians 1:4, “just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.” You were chosen by the creator of the universe before the creation of the universe! A Holy, Righteous and Sovereign God chose you to be His own before time began! What a Glorious thought! Romans 8:28-30 also speaks on this point when the scripture says, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.”
Thirdly, God redeems or purchased us with the blood of Jesus Christ. Prior to salvation, man is enslaved by sin and cannot redeem himself. There is no work man can do to achieve salvation. God redeem or purchases man because of His grace.
Do you know of God’s eternal plan for your life? Are you a believer in the finished work of Christ or are you trusting your own flesh and work? Today, let it be your day of salvation by placing your trust in Christ and be a part of God’s eternal plan for you.
