Some time ago I read a book published by Evangelical Press called, War and Grace, which is made up of a series of short biographies which tell how the gospel affected the lives of several soldiers and civilans during the Second World War. The story concludes with story of Henry Gerecke, an LCMS pastor who became Chaplain to the Nazis on trial at Nuremburg. Gerecke recounts how several of these men, including Keitel and Ribbentrop were converted prior to their death, while others like Goering remained stubbornly resistant to the very end.
I was copying out a quote concerning Keitel for future use in a sermon, when I noticed a link in the endnotes to the website of Gerecke's church that I had overlooked before. On that website are several audio files where Gerecke recounts his personal experiences, and they are certainly worth listening to if only as an abiding testimony to the truth that there is no sin so great that it cannot be forgiven through the application of the redemption purchased by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
