In today's reading, we find a passage which most of us will know. We find David's sin with Bathsheba. Nathan told Daivd of all of God's blessings. He said, if that would have been too little, I would have given you much more. Then, Nathan asked David why he despised the Lord's commandment. Nathan pronounced the judgment of God upon David's sin, 2Sa 12:10 Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.
Think how David might have responded to this. The judgment pronounced upon him is serious. The sword will never depart from his house. Many of us may have chosen to give up. We may have had the attitude of defeat. Why go on, why be faithful to God.
Yet in David, we see a heart of repentance. We see a man who is willing to honor God even though a terrible sentence has been passed upon him.
Do you ever feel like quitting because of the difficulties of life? Do you ever blame God because of the hard things which are happening to you? Learn from David. HIs difficulties were not just hard, but self-inflicted. However, we still see him praising God and following Him.
The Lord is worthy of our praise, sacrifice and service. Walk faithfully with Him no matter the circumstances of your life.
