Dear Prayer Warriors, Each week will be posted a series of True and False questions, with the answers appearing below. The object of these questions is for you to test yourself--not a test of obscure Bible trivia but a test of whether you are holding to Biblical revelation or myths and legends passed down by ignorant men. You should ask yourself, “If I have believed this myth, what other myths do I believe?” The goal is that you will be challenged to faithfully read and study the Holy Scriptures and base your convictions on the holy, eternal, inerrant written Word of God.
True or False - According to the Bible.... 1. Creationism is an aberration of Genesis and limited to a few passages in the opening chapters of the Bible. False – In fact, Creationism is such a pervasive and literal part of the entire Bible that, in order to reject Creationism one must reject the Bible as a whole. Below is an incomplete listing of passages in the Holy Scripture which refer to Creationism. As you can see, they are so numerous that one cannot reject them while retaining the integrity of the rest of Scripture. Genesis 1:1 – 27; 2:1 – 4, 7, 8, 18, 22; 5:1, 2; 6:7;9:6 Exodus 20:9 - 11 Deuteronomy 4:32; 10:14; 32:6, 15, 18 II Samuel 2:8 I Chronicles 16:26 II Chronicles 1:12 Ezra 9:6 Job 9:5 – 10; 28:25-27; 38:4 – 11 Psalm 8:3 – 6; 19:1; 24:1, 2; 33:6 – 9; 50:1; 66:5; 74:13 – 17; 75:3; 78:21, 22, 34; 86:9; 89:11, 12, 47; 90;1, 2; 93:1; 95:4, 5; 96:5, 10; 102:18; 103:25; 104:5,24, 30;115:15, 16; 119:90; 121:2; 124:8; 134:3; 136:5 – 9; 139:13; 144:5,10; 146:6; 148:5; 147:8; 149:2 Proverbs 3:19, 20; 8:26-31; 14:31; 16:4; 17:5: 30:4 Ecclesiastes 12:1 Isaiah 17:7; 27:11;40:26, 28; 41:20; 42:5; 43:1, 7, 15; 44:24; 45:8, 12, 18; 48:7; 54:16; Jeremiah 6:22; 10:12, 16; 26:5; 27:11; 31:35 – 37; 32:7; 33:2, 20, 25; 51:15, 19 Ezekiel 21:30; 28:13, 15 Hosea 8:14; 12:3 Amos 4:13; 5:8; 9:6 Jonah 1:9 Zechariah 10:1 Malachi 2:10 Matthew 2:10; 19:4 Mark 13:19; 15:15 John 1:3, 10 Romans 1:25; 8:39 I Corinthians 8:6; 11:9 Ephesians 2:10; 3:9 Colossians 1:16 I Timothy 2:13; 4:3, 4 Hebrews 1:2, 3, 10; 2:10; 4:3; 11:3; 12:27 I Peter 4:19 II Peter 3:5 Revelation 4:11; 14:7; 5:13; 10:6
2. The sin of Adam and Eve was sexual in nature - F Absolutely not!! Sexual intimacy was both commanded and blessed by God before Adam and Eve sinned. Active sexual relations, resulting in children, were blessed by God in Genesis 1:27-28. Adam and Eve could hardly be “fruitful and multiply” without having an active sex life. Not only that, their nakedness was nothing of which to be ashamed. (Genesis 2:25- “And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.”) Adam and Eve were created sexual in nature. This was blessed of God and not in any way a part of their sin, which came later. As you can see in chapters one and two, Adam and Eve were naked and enjoying sexual intimacy by both the command and blessing of God. It was not until chapter three that sin entered the world. This was a result of eating from the Tree of Knowledge (direct disobedience to God’s command) and had nothing to do with so called “carnal knowledge,” as before sin entered the world they were naked and sexually active. (Genesis 2:16 & 17; 3:6 & 7) - 3. The existence of an historical Adam and Eve are of no real consequence to the Church and they can be just as easily viewed as allegorical, without really affecting any of the teachings of Christ and salvation. - F In Romans 5:14 – 19, the historical Adam is inseparable from the doctrines of Salvation. The holy Scriptures in the New Testament, over and over again, refer us to the historical Adam and link Adam to great doctrines and teachings in the New Covenant. If the historical Adam is allegorical or mythological, then we must accept Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Apostles as allegorical and/or mythological. Listed below are just a few of the passages in the New Testament that refer to the historical Adam. Like creation, we are left with either accepting it as literal or questioning the entire Bible, as there are so many references dealing with many important doctrines. Romans 5:14, 18 & 19 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam , who is a type of Him who was to come. 18 So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men. 19 For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous. 1 Corinthians 15:22 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15:45 5 So also it is written, "The first MAN, Adam , BECAME A LIVING SOUL." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 1 Timothy 2:13 13 For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve.
4. God created man because of a need for fellowship. - F This theory comes from humanizing God. People reflect how lonely they would be without fellowship of other humans and so create this teaching from their own imaginations. Nowhere in Holy Scripture is the creation of man ever linked to a need on the part of God. God is self-existent and without any need. This teaching comes from imputing human emotions and needs to God. The Bible is clear why God created man – for His glory, but it did not derive from an emotional need of God which denotes that God was somehow lonely and lacking. Isaiah 43:7 “Everyone who is called by My name, And whom I have created for My glory, Whom I have formed, even whom I have made."
