The call of Isaiah, Lesson Outline, part 5: Time to Go! Unclean lips , out of heart proceeds all, but culminates in lips6:6-7. Picks with tongs, but holds in hand, touches the mouth. Tongue is a world of iniquity. Tongues of fire at Pentecost cancel the tongue of iniquity. James 3:2, Acts 2 Why coal, how does this take away sin? The coal is taken from the altar (incense, sacrifice). Jesus' sacrifice represented here? Only by a sacrifice can sin be pardoned. your iniquity is taken away, your sin is purged. 2 things a sacrifice does:1)You don't have sin any more. You are clean, sanctified!' 2) what you did is atoned for, forgiven.Kaphar, cover over. Literal in Genesis 6:14, ark covered with tar. A sealant. Makes a boat sea-worthy. On your own, before Jesus' covering you are in your own leaky vessel, heading down for eternal drowning. Covered by Jesus you will not sink. Blood atonement. Covering. Sins as though never had existed. So far Isaiah has seen 1) The Lord 2) Himself and been 3) rescued from death and sin But wait! There's more! Isaiah is useful to God! 6:8. Whom shall I send, who will go for Us? I'll Go! Minutes before, a condemned sinner stands before a holy just God. Look at him now. Enlisted in God's Army. Given a commission. Told to GO. Angels told to cover their feet. Isaiah is told to use his. And it is Isaiah who says later, how beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news of peace. Talking about his own feet. Paul later says that the very material of the shoes of our spiritual feet is the readiness to preach the Gospel. Part of our armor. You are not fully equipped as a soldier in God's army until you have this constant desire to share the Gospel with someone. Isaiah had seen the Lord. Felt the shaking. But it is the Voice that changes the life. The word that he heard is related to the word that we hear in our spirits, whether we ever see anything or feel anything like he felt. Actually this word was not spoken to Isaiah. It's just out there. To the seraphim? Not, who will go for Me? Look at Gen 1:26. Word of the Lord is still out there. Who will go for God today. God is still looking for volunteers. "Oh I'm waiting for a specific personal invitation." Get busy while you are waiting. Move on the information you already have. Someone next to you is going to hell. Does God have to give you an engraved invitation to speak to that person about their soul? To pray for them? Do what you know to do with all your heart. The position, the place, the specifics will all begin to fill in later... Start ministering on your face before God. Don't be surprised if you hear Him call you to serve God outside these 4 walls. Most of the ministry that needs to take place needs to take place out there not in here. Plenty of teachers etc. Go occupy some other city. Plenty of cities to take.
