BLESSED JESUS, OUR REDEEMER TUNE TO "COME THOU FOUNT" 8.7.8.7. WORDS BY JIM BYRD
1. Bless-ed Jesus, our Redeemer, Saved us from eternal loss; For He bore our sins and sorrows, When He died upon the cross. Glad the tidings of salvation, All our sins on Him were laid; You who trust Him hear this message, Christ your debt has fully paid.
2. Look my soul behold with wonder, See who hung upon the tree; ‘Twas the Lord, the righteous Servant, Put to death to set us free. Mark the sacrifice appointed, Lamb of God for sinners slain; God in human flesh enduring, Condemnation, grief and pain.
3. Hear Him lift His voice in triumph, "It is finished," praise His Name! Gone our guilt and our transgressions, He removed our sin and blame. Resurrected and ascended, Now He reigns upon His throne; Bless-ed Jesus, only Savior, Intercessor for His own.

THE SCRIPTURES
The testimony of the Lord (which witnesses for Him to us) is sure, incontestably and inviolably sure, what we may give credit to, may rely upon, and may be confident it will not deceive us. It is a sure discovery of the divine truth, a sure direction in the way of duty. It is a sure foundation of living comforts and a sure foundation of lasting hopes. It is of use to make us wise, wise to salvation, 2 Timothy 3:15. It will give us an insight into things divine and a foresight of things to come. It will employ us in the best work and secure to us our true interests. –Matthew Henry

MERCY
Mercy is, properly speaking, the name of Jesus. For David, speaking of grace, and pleading for it before the Lord saith, as an argument and plea for receiving it, "There is mercy (that is, there is Jesus) with Thee" (Psalm 130:4). And when Zacharias prophesied, under the influence of God the Holy Ghost, at the coming of Christ, he said it was "to perform the mercy promised" (Luke 1:72). Jesus is the Mercy promised. --Robert Hawker

THE GOD OF MY SALVATION
"The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted" (Psalm 18:46). Salvation means the entirety of that work of Jehovah whereby sinners are delivered from sin and all of its effects and raised to the heights of everlasting glory through the blood and righteousness of Christ. Here is the message of scripture: "Salvation is of the LORD" (Jonah 2:9).
1. God purposed salvation. "...Chosen unto salvation before the foundation of the world" (2 Thessalonians 2:13).
2. God provided salvation. "...God will provide Himself a lamb for a burnt offering" (Genesis 22:8).
3. God possesses salvation, it is His to give. "Shew us Thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us Thy salvation" (Psalm 85:7).
4. God has the prerogative to grant salvation to whom He will. "...I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious" (Exodus 33:17).
5. God proclaims salvation. "Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, Thy salvation cometh; behold, His reward is with Him, and His work before Him" (Isaiah 62:11).
6. God performs salvation. "Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation" (Isaiah 45:17). This salvation was wrought out by the obedience unto death of Christ who satisfied justice when He died in the stead of His chosen people. "Call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21).
7. God preserves salvation. "...kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation" (1 Peter 1:5).
8. God perfects salvation. "He which hath begun a good work in you will perform (perfect) it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6).
9. God is praised for salvation. "Let such as love Thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified" (Psalm 40:16).
10. God’s salvation is a Person. "Mine eyes hath seen Thy salvation" (Luke 2:30). –Pastor Jim Byrd
