“Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.” Proverbs 17:26

Do you know what’s right and wrong? If so, how do you know? According to our text today, not only does God expect us to know what is right and wrong, but He expects us to interact with others in a way that is consistent with this standard. While it might seem like we are getting off of the main topic a bit, I would again encourage you to ponder the question – How do I know or decide what is right and wrong? It might be a little more interesting to ask yourself – What do I embrace as right or wrong? While you may get tired of hearing this message repackaged from various angles and principles, you can be sure that an ungodly world is fighting every day to try and convince you to redefine “your own” right and wrong. It’s in the media, tirelessly trying to convince us that rebellion from authority and the freedom to fulfill our desires will not ultimately bring us into bondage. It’s in the public arena of academia, trying to convince us that in reality, evil and morality only exist as a cultural opinion. To follow this statement to its logical conclusion, it is only wrong to eat other humans if you do not live in a society in which the majority (or the most influential) embraces cannibalism. You may think the previous illustration sounds silly, but in America, we kill millions of unborn babies for the sake of convenience. Why is this an acceptable practice in our culture? Because the majority, or at least the most influential voices, in our nation have established that killing babies for the sake of convenience is right. And you live in a nation, who’s culture have swallowed this line of thinking hook, line, and sinker. Why? Because as a whole, our nation and culture has no idea how to determine what is right or wrong. They are fools who have rejected the “out dated and irrelevant” teachings of the Bible, for the relevance and wisdom of Hollywood. So, I would ask you again, do you know what’s right and wrong? If so, how do you know?
