Everyday Wisdom | Proverbs 17:16

“Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it?” Proverbs 17:16

The question that is pondered in this passage is – What good is the means to something, when there is no desire for the end goal? This is a very piercing question to ask ourselves. This may be the answer some of us are looking for in various areas of our lives. Why is it that we can attend church, have regular personal bible readings, and still make no real progress in our spiritual growth or commitments? How is it that we can know what needs to be done, and yet go extended periods of time without doing it? When our heart is not in a matter, going through the motions will do us little good. So, where does this leave us? Should we listen to our hearts and leave those areas unattended in which our hearts are currently not invested? God, who is the searcher and changer of hearts, has a better way. Cry to Him for what only He can give; a new heart, with new desires, for new treasures.
