"Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince." Proverbs 17:7
Today we will receive instruction on the importance of congruency in a person’s life. Wisdom is not congruent with foolishness. Have you ever listened to an individual, who you knew lived a foolish life, try to expound on words of wisdom? If you have, you probably remember how ineffective they were, even if what they were saying was true. A foolish lifestyle will discredit sound words. Not only is foolishness incongruent with wisdom, but trust is incongruent with lying. A prince or anyone else in a position of authority is in a position of trust. When individuals are looking to you for leadership; they are trusting you to lead them in an honest way. As leaders or individuals become known for their dishonesty, they soon lose all credibility. The point of our verse today is that you will not prosper, when you live an inconsistent or incongruent life. God is not mocked; we will reap what we sow.
