GRANT THY SALVATION
Tune "TAKE MY LIFE" 7.7.7.7.
Words by JIM BYRD

1. Come Jehovah with us meet,
As we worship at Thy feet;
Here we are assembled now,
Prostrate Lord we humbly bow,
Prostrate Lord we humbly bow.

2. Thou art God and Thou alone,
Reigning on Thy sovereign throne;
Thou the Potter, we the clay,
Grant Thy mercy Lord we pray,
Grant Thy mercy Lord we pray.

3. Show us Jesus is our plea,
Who once died on Calvary;
Speak the Word that we may live,
Through His blood our sins forgive,
Through His blood our sins forgive.

4. May Thy glory fill this place,
Grant to us Thy saving grace;
Thine the praise shall ever be,
Now and for eternity,
Now and for eternity.

Great is the LORD,
and greatly to be praised in the city of our God,
in the mountain of His holiness."
(Psalm 48:1)

To Believe God is no small thing. It is the evidence of a heart reconciled unto God; it is the proof of our being weaned from our own works and deeds; it is a clear sign of the true conviction of sin; it is honoring to Christ, our only Redeemer; it is the essence of true worship; and it is the root of sincere obedience. –Henry Mahan

God has, in Himself, all power to defend you, all wisdom to direct you, all mercy to pardon you, all grace to enrich you, all righteousness to clothe you, all goodness to supply you and all happiness to crown you. –Thomas Brooks

SPIRITUAL REST
"Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest."
(Matthew 11:28)

What is the nature of this rest Christ gives to all who come to Him? The Greek word expresses something more than rest, or a mere relaxation from toil; it denotes refreshment likewise. A person weary with long bearing a heavy burden will need not only to have it removed, but likewise he wants food and refreshment to restore his spirit and to repair his wasted strength. Such is the rest of the Gospel. It not only puts a period to our fruitless labor, but it affords a sweet reviving cordial. There is not only peace, but joy in believing. –John Newton

The greatest judgment which God Himself can, in this present life, inflict upon a man is to leave him in the hand of his own boasted free-will. –Augustus Toplady

ONE SACRIFICE FOR SINS
"But this man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; from henceforth expecting till His enemies be made His footstool. For by one offering He hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified" (Hebrews 10:12-14). The Son of God came into the world to accomplish the salvation of those the Father gave Him in electing grace before the world began. "Thou shalt call His name Jesus: for He shall save His people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21). In order to carry out this great task, Messiah said, "A body Thou hast prepared me" (Hebrews 10:5). In that body ordained by the Father and formed by the Holy Spirit, the God-Man showed His qualification to save His people by completely obeying the law of the Lord. Having lived a life of perfection, He offered Himself, body and soul, as the sacrifice to offended justice so that God might be "a just God and a Savior" (Isaiah 45:21). Since the iniquities of His elect were "laid upon Him" (Isaiah 53:6), the law of God found Christ Jesus guilty and executed Him because "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). By His sufferings and death, divine justice was satisfied making it just for them to be forgiven their sins and declared righteous by God. Because of the cross of Christ, all those for whom He was the Substitute are freed from the law and it’s condemning power. Our Lord’s dying declaration stands as a lasting memorial of His victorious work: "It is finished" (John 19:30). Reconciliation to God and redemption from the curse of the law were accomplished by the triumphant Savior. Those who were set apart and entrusted to Him in covenant love were "justified by His blood" (Romans 5:9) for He was "delivered for our offenses and raised again for (because of) our justification" (Romans 4:25). When it pleases God, Christ will be revealed in these vessels of mercy (Galatians 1:15-16). They will be brought by the Holy Spirit to turn from every false way (repentance) and believe the gospel of grace. Their only plea before God for salvation, forgiveness, righteousness and everlasting life will be the person and work of "the only Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5). –Pastor Jim Byrd
