As we approach a New Year, we have been rejoicing in the birth and work of Jesus Christ. On December 14 & 15, we held our annual Christmas cantata entitled “Then Jesus Came.” What a joy it was to see decisions made for Christ as a result of this effective ministry. In December, our young people were able to carol most of our widows and shut-ins at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. We praise the Lord for these dear folks who been faithful to the Lord down through the years and the opportunity we have to learn from their lives.
On Friday, December 20th, many from our church went to the local mall and sang Christmas carols and shared Christ with our local community. We praise the Lord for this freedom that we have in our local community.
In addition, we are excited for the 11 people who became members of Mt. Zion in December. God continues to add to his church.
In a day and age where doctrine is minimized, we believe at Mt. Zion that right doctrine produces right behavior. In Sunday School, we have been taking a deeper look at our salvation in a series called “So Great Salvation.” In addition to that, recently we finished up a series entitled, “Hath God Said – A Defense of the KJV.” On Sunday nights, Pastor Starr is finishing up a series on “Prudent Parenting.” If you would like a set of any of these series, they are available at cost. You may email Dolores Cullum @ Dolores@mtziononline.org
January ushers in a new emphasis in our church – “Be Great! Serve!” In addition, we are excited about our Family Skating Activity, our Boys’ Basketball, and our Sweetheart Banquet coming up in February.
We invite you to come and be a part of a thriving, Independent, Baptist church that is centered on exalting Jesus Christ, that is concentrated on preaching God’s Word, and is concerned about reaching the lost with the Gospel of Christ.
If you are looking for this kind of church, do something about it. Start the New Year with a fresh start in attending church. Come and worship with us this Sunday. We are sure that you’ll find that “the Distance IS worth the Difference.”
