We had an easy day today. After a morning orientation with Susan Taylor, some of us went tubing down a river nearby. It was quite refreshing as it was another HOT day! We have had tremendous weather! Considering that now is the start to the rainy season here, we've had very little. After spending the afternoon in the water, we were able to ride to a nearby beach to watch part of the sunset; BEAUTIFUL! The water was very warm because we are closer to the equator. It is always warm here. There are 4 months of hot weather, and the rest of the year it is hot and it rains. The beach, where we were, was once a resort that is now deserted as it has not yet been rebuilt after the tsunami washed it away a year and a half ago. Many here lost members of their family. There is a tremendous amount of rebuilding effort to bring back the area to its former beauty, so the building where we are staying is new. We will visit a memorial later this week. Tomorrow we travel to Hat Yai, 6 hours away and 72 kilometers fromt the Malaysian border.
