"He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed." Proverbs 13:20

What an important truth we have come to this morning. This is probably one of the best known principles in scripture. Yet sadly, this is probably also one of the least believed principles as well. The problem with us is that we tend to gravitate toward people who like us. It is nice to find someone who likes and accepts us for who we are. Many times, this is the only filter we have for who is in our circle of companions, and who is not. But, if scripture is going to be our authority, and wisdom is something we are interested in, we must strengthen our filter and bring it up to God’s standard.

We are influenced so easily, and it only takes a small enticement for us to stray. While we should be friendly to everyone, fools should never be placed inside our circle of companions. Here are a few things to add to your fool filter:
