For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. – Ephesians 2:10
The greatest damage to God’s glory in the earth is a false or unhealthy church. What is the Antichrist going to do when he comes on the scene? He is going to head up a false church. He is going to call himself a Christian and call his followers Christians. They are going to throw around bible verses and give the appearance of being genuine. That is why the greatest need in the church today is for discernment – seeing the difference between those who "talk" Christianity and misuse scripture versus those who know God and love the scriptures and want to use the scriptures for God’s glory and not for self-gain. The Antichrist is going to be a great fraud and a great phony. He wants to dishonor God, so he is going to build a false church.
When Satan’s kingdom advances in the world, God is dishonored; however, God’s image is most diminished when His church (or that which claims to be His church) is dishonorable to Him. You see, we expect the world and the devil to be evil, but when the church is willingly disobedient or unhealthy, it presents a false image of God to the world. God does not have Plan B. God is not going to see the weakness and ungodliness of the church and decide to start a whole new concept. Instead, His purpose is to revive and purify His remnant church. The Church IS His method for His work and His glory until He returns.
When the church is not what it ought to be, there is a great mutilating of God’s glory. You see, the church is, in a sense, God’s self-portrait made known in the earth. The church is Christ’s body in the world. Ephesians 2:10 calls us “His workmanship.” When the church is what it ought to be, we are showing forth both who God is and what God can do.
We should not be a church whereby secularists can analyze us and explain how it works. They should not be able to look at any man’s talent, creativity, charisma, or skill to explain the church. The secularist should look at us and wonder why people are attracted to such an assembly. They should not be able to explain us. Why? Because God is doing it, not man! It is His work; it is a portrait of what He can perform.
