"He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch." Proverbs 11:28
The comparison that is being made here is between those who are self-sufficient and those who trust in the Lord. The individual, who is trusting in their riches, is not necessarily limited to trusting in money. What do you value most about yourself? Many of us are tempted to think that we have insight or wisdom than most do not possess. Maybe it is your athletic or physical abilities. Whatever it is, if we do not recognize that everything we have has come to us from the hand of God, we will be tempted to trust our possessions rather than our supplier. When this happens, it is only a matter of time before an individual falls. Those who put their trust in God will flourish because they are believing and hoping in the true source of blessings. God is faithful, gracious, merciful, and generous to His children. You will never be disappointed when you put your trust in Him and His Word.
