As one who enjoys defying received wisdom from the ancients, here’s a blog post on the origin of the word “Easter.” As you might guess the author, Dr. Tim LeCroy, doesn’t hold to the “Easter is a pagan term” belief. I’m not fully decided on what the proper wording should be, although I believe it’s good to take a special week to focus on the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. That being said, this perspective at least challenges what many – including myself – have taken for granted.
