Who are we in Christ? Is he our Savior? Yes, but who are we? What is our role in this life of salvation? After all, we bring nothing to the party.
Paul knew this. With all his Pharisaical education, his Roman citizenship and his fanatical working for God, he knew he had nothing to contribute to the Gospel on his own — it was all Jesus and Him crucified that mattered. The opening three words to Romans, "Paul, a servant" attest to this. He was simply a servant of Christ Jesus.
Again, who are we in Christ? Are we willing to be the pure servant exemplified in the life of Paul?
Pastor Schiel continues wtih the study of the author of the book of Romans in this second sermon in this series entitled "The Gospel." From Paul's perspective Jesus is LORD over everything! And there is nothing to be held back in serving him, even unto death.
Centuries of Christians have studied the life of Paul and recognized the parallels in their own lives of being brought out of a life of sin and rebellion into the light of salvation. Many have lived to become martyrs.
Again, Who are WE in Christ? It's a question we must all face sometime in our journey. Does our life serve Jesus, or do we expect to "get something" out of church on Sunday. Are we a servant or a consumer?
