A Believer's Adoption - Ephesians 1: 4-5

Beloved,

Perhaps the greatest expression of God’s forensic justification is found in the doctrine of adoption. Many do not consider adoption as a doctrine but the reality is that man in his sinfulness is completely alienated from God; man has literally no part with God in his natural born condition of depravity. The work of God in saving mankind is a legal process in that each person’s individual case is adjudicated by God with the verdict determining one’s eternal state. For those who are redeemed, their state is not just one of simply being a citizen of God’s kingdom; although this is certainly true. Rather, each redeemed believer is adopted into the family of God and this person becomes a child of God. In Ephesians 1: 4 – 5, the apostle Paul speaks to this reality; “even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,” The doctrinal import of adoption is that as a child of God, the believer is given not only every blessing, but they are actually heirs of all that God has and God will not withhold anything that can be communicated from His children.
