Paris - A French magazine said on Tuesday it had carried out experiments that proved the Shroud of Turin, believed by some...
Gibson’s movie depicts Jesus with long hair, whereas the Bible is clear that Jesus would not have worn long hair (1 Corinthians 11:14). Apparently Gibson claims he got his inspiration for this from the Shroud of Turin. He attempted to re-create the face depicted on this Shroud—in spite of the fact that it has proved to be one of the biggest fakes ever foisted on the religious world!
Roman Catholicism claims that this long sheet bears an imprint of Christ’s face.
However, this cannot possibly have been Christ’s burial clothes. The Bible makes it clear that Jesus’ body and head were wrapped in at least two separate pieces of material—linen clothes were wrapped round His body; a napkin was around His head; it was not a single sheet (John 20:7). Also, as a little piece of independent confirmation, it should be noted that this Turin Shroud has been shown to date back no further than medieval times, certainly not to the 1st century! (Further recent repudiation of the genuineness of the shroud is most welcome, though entirely expected).
