“For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. ” Ecclesiastes 9:4 You may have heard the expression, “Where there is life, there is hope.” The above portion of Scripture would confirm that statement. It would also powerfully state that with death comes the end of hope. The Holy Spirit has never saved the heart of one who has already gone to the grave. But hope remains while life remains.
Someone reading this may feel like they are too far gone for the mercy of God. They may feel like their rebellion against God has disqualified them from ever expecting any grace from His hand. In fact, they may feel like they are no better than a dog. As the verse says, however, a living dog is better than a dead lion.
God is a God of restoring grace. Though He hates sin with a holy passion, yet He also delights to forgive and restore. It is not too late for you to repent, turn from your sins and run to Christ begging for mercy. Never in the history of the world has God ever denied the sincere plea for mercy from one sinner. Make a clean break with sin today and throw yourself on the mercy of God. Truly, He is the God of hope!
