“Favored With a View”

When I was younger, I use to travel a great deal as a part of my job. Oftentimes, I would have to spend the night where I was working, so I would find a convenient motel-hotel room to stay in. Though all the rooms were pretty much the same, the view from each room was not. Sometimes the view was the back of the complex, where you saw nothing but concrete, trash cans, and food service trucks. Other times I would be “favored with a view.” There would be rolling hills and small mountains, green pastures, beautiful horse farms or maybe even the night-lights of the downtown city skyscrapers. I never got to pick my own room. I just got whatever was available. But that is not the case with the believer in Christ, for they are always favored with a view.

The writer of Hebrews says in chapter eleven, verse twenty seven: By faith he (Moses) forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. To be favored with a view is to see Him who is invisible. It is to see God. It is to see God in Christ. It is to see Christ as God. Oh what a view we are given when God shows us that it was Him who died in our place, to give us His perfect righteousness. I think Peter said it best in 1 Peter 1:8-9 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. Yes dear child of God, not with physical sight, but with spiritual sight we have been given and favored with a view that only God can give.
