"For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that He might be Lord both of the dead and living." (Romans 14:9) ______________________________________________________________________
CHRIST IS MY SHEPHERD TUNE TO "How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds" CM WORDS BY Jim Byrd
1. My Shepherd is the Lord of hosts, He will supply my needs; He makes His sheep in pastures lie, And to still water leads.
2. The Shepherd Who restored my soul, Directs the way I take; In paths of righteousness He leads, All for His great name’s sake.
3. Though through death’s valley I must walk, Yet evil I’ll not fear; The mighty Shepherd dwells with me, My Lord is always near.
4. The Shepherd’s rod and staff provide For my security; For me a table has been set, Though foes encircle me.
5. His goodness and His mercy too, Shall always follow me; And in His house I shall abide, And dwell eternally. ______________________________________________________________________ SCRIPTURE READING (WORSHIP SERVICE): PSALM 27

"Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). "In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink" (John 7:37). "All that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me; and him that cometh to Me, I will in no wise cast out" (John 6:37). "No man can come to Me except the Father which hath sent Me draw him" (John 6:40). Are you guilty? Come to Him for a full and unconditional pardon. Are you impure? Come to Him whose blood cleanses the foulest. Do you see the worthlessness of your self-righteous rags? Come to Him for perfect righteousness and beauty. Are you ignorant? Come to Him to be taught for He is the Wisdom of God. Are you cut off from God? Come to Him for restoration. O that you would be brought by the Spirit of grace to understand there is no life, no righteousness, no salvation, no forgiveness and no acceptance for any sinner outside of the dear Savior. Coming to Him is a movement of the soul, not the body; it is believing on Him. Come to Christ, but don’t move a muscle (as in walking the aisle). -- Pastor Jim Byrd ______________________________________________________________________ "RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALTETH A NATION"(Proverbs 14:34) With these few words in mind, here are four questions which need to be answered. 1. What nation is exalted, lifted up and accepted by God? It is spiritual Israel. "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him Who hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous light" (1 Peter 2:9). This "holy nation" is comprised of all those given to the Son by the Father in that election of grace which took place before the world was created. 2. How did this nation come to be exalted to a position of honor, acceptance and glory? The answer is simply stated, "Righteousness exalted a nation." 3. Was this righteousness established by the nation that is exalted? The biblical record declares that this chosen nation was in the same predicament as all men are by nature. "There is none righteous, no not one" (Romans 3:10). None will ever be exalted on the basis of self-righteousness for it is written, "all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags" (Isaiah 64:6). "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us" (Titus 3:5). 4. Whose righteousness is of such infinite merit that it exalts an entire nation to the heights of everlasting acceptance before a just and holy God? The righteousness of Christ alone raises His people from the dunghill of vileness and makes them "kings and priests unto God" (Revelation 1:6). "He hath made Him to be sin for us, Who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him" (2 Corinthians 5:21). Christ established righteousness by His sacrificial death and resurrection. In time, one by one, the entire nation will be brought by the effectual call of the Holy Spirit to submit to, believe upon and rejoice in Christ. The whole nation is exalted because they are justified by the imputed righteousness of Christ. In fact, His name and the nation’s name is the same: "THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS" (Jeremiah 23:6; 33:16). -- Pastor Jim Byrd
