As children, we learned that we were not to call people by malicious names. But, sometimes we forget this childhood lesson when we are engaged in what we think is a defense of the gospel. How often have we referred to someone by some detested theological name so as to dismiss their person and their understanding of the truth. Often, all that has happened is that they have made a statement that offended us – cast us in an ill light – so we condemn them as some theological outcast so that we will not have to answer their challenge.
