“The preached Gospel is the exhibition of a bleeding Savior opening a fountain to wash guilty sinners in; an inviting Savior, exclaiming to the thirsty perishing sinner, ‘Whosoever will, let him take of the water of life freely.’” — Septimus Sears (1817-1877) ______________________________________
Hark! How the Gospel Trumpet Sounds! — Charles Cole (Tune: #118 — When I Survey — LM)
1. Hark! How the Gospel trumpet sounds! Christ and free grace therein abounds; Free grace to such as sinners be; And if free grace, — Why not for me?
2. The Savior died, and by His blood Brought rebel sinners near to God; He died to set the captives free; — And why, my soul, why not for me?
3. The blood of Christ, how sweet it sounds, To cleanse and heal the sinner’s wounds! The streams thereof are rich and free; — And why, my soul, why not for me?
4. Thus Jesus came the poor to bless, To clothe them with His righteousness; The robe is spotless, full, and free; — And why, my soul, why not for thee?
5. Eternal life by Christ is given, And ruined rebels raised to heaven, Then sing of grace so rich and free, And say, my soul, — Why not for me? ____________________________________________________
“He shall be satisfied!” Isaiah 53:11
“He shall be satisfied!” How I love this word of promise! Let me state it as emphatically as I possibly can.
“He,” the Son of God, our glorious Substitute, our great Sin Offering, our divine Savior, the one who died in our place at Calvary, “shall,” without a doubt, without the possibility of hindrance, most assuredly, “be satisfied,” fully, completely, eternally satisfied! He was satisfied with the terms of redemption proposed to Him as our Surety in the covenant of grace before the world was made. He is satisfied with His purchased possession, His bride the Church. He is satisfied with Himself as a ransom price for the satisfaction of justice. He shall be satisfied with us, His redeemed ones.
This is an inspired declaration of complete, effectual redemption accomplished by Jehovah’s Righteous Servant, our Substitute and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. — “He shall not fail!” The Son of God can never be frustrated in His purpose, defeated in His design, or hindered in His work. Christ was not conquered at Calvary. He conquered!
“He shall see of the travail of his soul and shall be satisfied!” The cross of our Lord Jesus Christ shall never be discovered a miscarriage. The Lion of the tribe of Judah must prevail. Isaiah prophesied of, and the Word of God universally teaches the infallible efficacy of Christ’s atonement. I want you to see from the Word of God the glorious, absolute, saving efficacy of Christ’s atonement.
This is a matter of utmost concern. The one thing that characterizes every messenger of Satan is a denial of the efficacy of Christ’s atonement. The one point of doctrine upon which all false prophets are agreed is this: — They all deny that every soul for whom Christ died shall be saved. They may give lip service to Bible doctrine and Bible terms; but they deny the very foundation of the Gospel, which is substitution. Modern day prophets of Baal preach a redemption that redeems no one, an atonement that atones for nothing, and a salvation that saves no one. They preach possibility redemption, possibility atonement, possibility grace, and possibility salvation. The Word of God teaches that every sinner for whom Christ died shall, upon the grounds of justice satisfied, be saved by God’s almighty, free grace.
Christ Jesus my discharge procured, the whole of wrath divine endured: The law’s tremendous curse He bore; justice can never ask for more. Payment God cannot twice demand, first at my bleeding Surety’s hand, And then demand the price from me, for whom Christ died at Calvary. _______________________________________________________
Why Regeneration is Called a New Creation
“Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.” (2 Corinthians. 5:17)
1. The old creation and the new creature have the same Author. — “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Paul said in Ephesians 2:10, “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus.” 2. The first thing in the new creation as well as the old is light! — “And God said, Let there be light, and there was light.” — “God, who commanded- the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts to give us the knowledge of the glory of God in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:6) 3. The first creation is out of nothing; so is the new creation! —, “In time past you were not a people, but are now the people of God.” (1 Peter 2:10) —”And you hath He quickened, who were dead.” (Ephesians 2:1) 4. The Spirit of God and the Word of God gave the world its being even as we were born again by the Spirit and the Word. — Moses wrote, “The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters and God said, Let there be light; and there was light.” 5. The same word and power which created the world now sustains and supports it! — “But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store.” (2 Peter 3:7) Even so, “we are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation.” 6. When the Lord God finished the first creation, He surveyed it with satisfaction. — “And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good.” (Genesis 1:3) Even so, “We are made the very righteousness of God in Christ.” — Pastor Henry Mahan
If Christ refused to pray for everyone, did He die for everyone?
John 19:9
Think about that. Religious people everywhere declare that “God loves all men, Christ died for all men, and the Holy Spirit is striving to save all men?” But could it be that those things are not so? If you will examine the Word of God, you will discover that none of those things are so.
God does not love all people (Romans 9:13). If He did, no one would go to hell. Christ does not pray for all men (John 17:9, 20). If He did, none would perish. He did not die for all men (Isaiah 53:8). If He did, none would be required to suffer for their sins. The Holy Spirit is not trying to save all sinners (Acts 16:6). If He were, all would be saved!
Think! Don’t blindly accept the traditions and doctrines of men. Your soul is at stake! The glory of God is at stake! If Christ died for the sins of all men, then none can be lost and all the sins of all men must be forgiven, or Christ is a failure! That cannot be (Isaiah 42:4). The Lord Jesus Christ did not merely make a stab at redeeming His people, He redeemed them (Galatians 3:13). His blood was not shed in vain. Justice, being satisfied, demands that all for whom atonement has been made must be saved. __________________________________________
