A Thought From the Word

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” I Corinthians 15:58

Consistency, consistency, consistency. Surely, all of us can personally identify with the need of consistency in our walk with the Lord. Without consistency, there won’t be much real progress. If a homebuilder did a dab of work on a new project every now and then, the house would take forever in completing.

Consistency in reading God’s word, consistency in prayer, consistency in disciplining and training children, consistency in preaching the gospel, consistency in ministering to those hard to minister to, and the list could go on and on.

One of the hindrances of consistency is that we don’t always see fast results. But, notice the last portion of our verse. Labor for the Lord is not in vain. Galatians 6:9 tells us, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Don’t faint; don’t quit; don’t give up! The Lord sees your efforts and He will honor that faithfulness that honors Him.
