Naked Before God

We live in a day when people stay busy with all kinds of activity because they do not want to stop and think about God. We do all that is necessary to remove from our minds any thoughts of death. But, one day we will awake and find ourselves standing before the Lord God of Heaven, naked, clothed in our own righteousness. We will see that we are "enmity against God," and we will see that in His sight all we thought was good is as "filthy rags." Now we have an idea of what the Scriptures mean when they say, "The wrath of God abides on me." Now we see sin, not as something done against our family and our neighbor. Now we see sin, not as telling a lie, or what kind of clothes we wear, or on which side we part our hair, but we see sin as treason against a Holy God. We see sin as spitting in the face of God. We see our sin nailing Christ to the Cross.

It is the Spirit of God that causes us to cry out to God with the Apostle Paul, "O wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from this body of death?" Hell does not have a quality to it that will purge us from our sins, and make us fit to enter heaven at a future date. If Hell could purge us of our sins, God would have never sent His Son to suffer that awful, agonizing death of the Cross.

The Lord Jesus Christ stands as our refuge. Flee to Him. Get inside those walls. And as long as that High Priest lives, we are saved from wrath. Call upon the name of the Lord and you will be saved. The Father sees no sin in you who are in Christ.
