It is the nature of love to give itself. This giving is manifested in the loving obedience of Christ who gave himself for us. He humbled himself in willing submission to the Father and was made in the likeness of man. In loving obedience he took on him the form of a servant and became obedient unto death. Those who know something of the love of God have learned it by that self-sacrificing obedience of Christ. All those who have experienced that love, love the same way.
