1. If you trust the bless-ed Savior, Sing of Him who saved your soul; By His sacrifice for sinners, He restored and made us whole. Praise Him for His grace and favor, Praise Him for His love and care; None could rescue us but Jesus, Who with Him can e’er compare?
2. Jesus left His throne of glory, Came into this wilderness; Came to save His chosen people, Came to bring in righteousness. Sing the glories of the Savior, Magnify the Lamb who came; Let our voices join together, To exalt the Savior’s name.
3. For our sins the Savior suffered, He was bruised and crucified; With His blood He sealed our pardon, "It is finished," Jesus cried. God in justice saves His people, For the law was satisfied; Now there is no condemnation, Christ our Substitute has died.
4. What though we be weak and sinful, Jesus is our mighty Friend; He Who shed His blood to save us, Will preserve us to the end. Sing unto Him hallelujahs, Let us all His Name adore; Soon in heaven we shall see Him, There to praise Him evermore.
"O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth. Sing unto the LORD, bless His name; shew forth His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the heathen, His wonders among all people. For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: He is to be feared above all gods" (Psalm 96:1-4).
The nature of the atonement settles its extent. If it merely made salvation possible, it applied to all men. If it effectively secured salvation, it had reference only to the elect. --Loraine Boettner.
The average person who gives money, gifts or charity to others may think that this gift of whatever he gives should be regarded as a loss, certainly not called assets nor investments, nor gain. This is not so! Gifts, money and alms given to others is no more loss than the seed planted by the farmer is loss. Anything given to others in the name of Christ, for the glory of our Lord, is not loss, but gain in every way. Our Lord said in Luke 6:38, "Give and it shall be given to you...for with the same measure that you give withal it shall be given to you." This is saying that God uses the same container or measure for our gifts to us as we use for our gifts to others. The more generous the farmer is with his seed, the greater the harvest; and the more generous and loving and giving we are enabled to be, the greater the blessing. No! Giving is not loss, but a great gain. A person may say, "I cannot afford to give." If we have an understanding of the grace of God, we cannot afford not to give. –Henry Mahan
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit" (Romans 8:1). To walk after the flesh is to seek righteousness, acceptance, salvation and eternal life by the will or works of the flesh. To walk after the Spirit is to be led by the Holy Spirit to believe Jesus Christ who brought in everlasting righteousness by His obedience unto death. The erroneous teaching of salvation by man’s will and works is reasonable to the natural man. The flesh readily embraces the belief that God rewards morality, kindness and sincerity with righteousness and eternal life. However, salvation by pure grace conditioned upon the substitutionary, sacrificial, justice-satisfying death of the Lord Jesus, that is a truth a man has to be taught by the Spirit of Christ. Every person is either walking after the flesh or after the Spirit. Paul wrote of those who had "a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge." They were ignorant of God’s righteousness and sought to establish a righteousness of their own. Those people walked after the flesh. But all who walk after the Spirit have "submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God." They have been taught by the Spirit that "Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth" (read Romans 10:1-4).
"Yet doth He devise means, that His banished be not expelled from Him" (2 Samuel 14:14). Behold the infinite wisdom of God! He devised the means whereby He would show mercy to sinners without compromising His justice. The sins of His people were imputed to the Lord Jesus Who died in their stead and removed their indebtedness. The righteousness of Christ is imputed to those for whom He died. In this way guilty sinners are forgiven and accepted, not at the expense of justice, but with its full approval.
