After a wonderfully refreshing weekend at home with my lovely wife and my children, I drove back early this morning to the General Assembly in Palos Heights, Illinois. This morning we've been working through various committee reports, including the Committee on Deaconal Ministries, the Committee on Coordination and others. Later today we should take up the two appeals coming before the Assembly. One of the blessings of Presbyterianism is the opportunity to appeal your case to the broader courts. If you don't feel like you got a fair shake at the local level, you can always appeal to the Presbytery on the regional level. And if you still don't feel that justice has been done, you can always appeal to the General Assembly and bring it before the entire church. This series of graded courts helps to control ecclesiastical tyranny. Since every OPC officer has pledged submission to his brethren, the church courts can and do work as they ought. This is Presbyterianism at work - the church carrying out her ministries to establish and enforce justice in God's house!
