“Why have You forsaken Me?” Jesus cried out as in His humanity which He allowed to play to the fullest, He had lost consciousness of Who He really is and Who is His Father.

"Do not leave me or forsake me!" the Psalmist cried out in Psalm 27, then answered his own statement, "When my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will take care of me."

"I will never leave you or forsake you," is not poetry. It is solemn promise. Even lands and nations are not without the care of God. The ones we deem most abandoned display some measure of the Father's hand.

North Korea is among the worst of the worst in the family of nations. But even there the Gospel is known in the capital and is sprinkled throughout the country in individuals and small groups. Countless thousands of Gospel tracts have touched Korean lives floating in from launched balloons in the West Sea and spots in northern South Korea.

God-forsaken North Korea? Nope. Forsaken Son of God? Oh yes. Mark it down. There was a time when the Father turned His back on the Son. Jesus was not just imagining this.

Those of us given to weeping for the forsaken, the abandoned, need to turn our focus on Jesus. As the ladies that lined the pathway of Jesus to the cross, wept their tender hearts out, so should we spend time weeping for the injustice done to Jesus then, and now.

One man one place, a few hours. But this man was God. God in serious pain. Oh the awfulness of a God who suffers at the hands of His own creation.

I've been dealing lately with a Muslim in a daily jousting via e-mail. He cannot comprehend a God Who hurts His own Son for someone else's sake. Allah would never do such a lowly thing.
