In Hebrews 12: 1-2, there is a race set before us. This race is a picture of the believer who runs for the glory that he hopes to possess. The place he runs in is this world; A world that is full of pitfalls, snares, hurdles, and difficulties. There are mountains to be climbed, oceans to be crossed, and a wilderness to be traversed. The length of the race is a lifetime. So clearly is this race declared that if any man fail he will have no one to blame but himself. But so difficult is the race that if any man finish the course he must give all of the glory to God. The prize is Christ. To be with Him, like Him, and partaker of His glory. The prize is heavenly glory and everlasting life. The reason for the race is to declare those for whom the prize has been revealed. Untold millions will run the race but only true faith will finish the course. We are given several things here that mark those who truly run for the prize.
