February was the month of SNOW in NE USA. We had over 20+” in two successive storms, Feb. 5-6 and 9-10. The rule of thumb for this month was cancellation. Attendance even in the aftermath isn’t back to normal yet. More storms are in the forecast, so…
Beyond the snow, we rejoiced this month to vote to send Gina Frey as a missionary to South Africa. She’ll be on full-time deputation for support starting April 1. Cathy Fanus cooked for and directed our Sweetheart Banquet for the first time. She did a wonderful job and we had a great time—one week late because of snow. Boys Basketball continued every Monday (except one) in the month of February.
Saturday, February 27, teens from 7 or 8 churches converged on our church for a Teen Volleyball Tournament, pizza, and a great time of Christian fellowship. We also completed an intense 5-week School of Theology Course on Counseling with 10 students.
February was a sad month for the Solito family as Kevin passed away suddenly. We rejoiced at the seven who prayed to receive Christ at the funeral. Also, a young lady prayed to receive Christ at our Delta Senior Center Ministry.
Don’t forget these regular opportunities:
1) Reformers Unanimous for addictions every Friday from 7-9 pm in the Annex Gym. 2) The CIA Club (High School Bible Study) in Red Lion High School meets every other Tuesday at 11:30. Call our office at 927-9227 ext 2 or ask for Pastor Chris. 3) Our home school coop group resumes every Thursday in March.
Tuesday, March 2nd, we host our first ever Shepherds’ Retreat for pastors of independent Baptist Churches. We anticipate nearly 20 to attend.
In a day when churches nationwide are in a state of flux, giving-in to new philosophy’s of purpose-driven ministry and changing doctrines, Mt. Zion Baptist Church remains the way we have always been—“Church, the way it used to be.” We stress solid Bible preaching and teaching, emphasize individual and family living for Christ, focus on reaching out to our community and the world with the Gospel, and try to guard against the influx of worldliness into the church.
