We come to You this day and admit that we have chased other gods and religions called it ‘enlightenment', we have practiced the occult and called it ‘natural therapy' and ‘exercise'. We admit that have brought the gods of other religions (idols) into our homes and called it ‘art'. We have read our horoscopes/ palms and gone to traditional healers, mediums and spiritualists and called it ‘entertainment', instead of seeking You for answers and honouring You and Your ways above all other things. We have practices witchcraft and called it ‘magic'. Through these things we have opened our hearts to all kinds of other spirits (Deuteronomy 7:25-26,1Timothy 4:1, Acts 16:16, Galatians 5:19-21), instead of obeying You and seeking the wisdom that Your Spirit provides (Romans 8:26-27, 1 Corinthians 12:8-11).

We have chosen to pray to our ancestors, statues, angels, demons, the queen of heaven and to the saints. We have chosen to honour the sun, the moon, the earth, the water, trees, fire, Santa Clause, the goddess of fertility/ easter bunny and pagan traditions, (Deuteronomy 12:29-31, Ezekiel 8:16-17, Jeremiah 7:18-19, Jeremiah 10:2-5, Exodus 34:13-14, 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; 1 Peter 4:3, Revelations 2:20, Revelations 9:20-21). We have bowed down and worshipped all types of other things and have abandoned You - the Creator of all things. We have fallen far away from You.

Show us the areas of thought and action where we have strayed and bring us to a place where You are the most important Person in our lives. Your word teaches us that Your eyes are ever on the earth seeking those whose thoughts are upon You and who fear and rely on You, (Psalm 33:18-19).

YOU SHALL NOT MISUSE THE NAME OF GOD

Father, we have indeed misused Your name. Your word teaches us that those who call upon Your name, who KNOW Your name will be saved (Psalm 91:14-16), but we have blasphemed against You. We use Your name as a profanity and we have use Your name lightly, not realizing the power that is Your name and the seriousness of our offenses. We use it to swear at and threaten others; we make a joke of Your name and we mock You and Your name in so many ways. We bring blasphemous items into our homes and do not cleanse them of it.

We have made ourselves more important and have set up our intellectuality and skills as greater than Yours. We have pledged allegiance with secret societies that set themselves up above the knowledge of You and Your truth. We have called ourselves gods, and in this manner also blasphemed against You. We follow New Age practices where we seek god in all things and seek to be one with nature and all of creation, we seek to be You instead of seeking to become like Your Son.

Forgive us Father and help us to realize that ONLY You are God and that by Your name and the name of Your Son can we be saved. Help us to not use Your name profanely or lightly, but teach us the TRUTH about Your name. Help us to love You and glorify Your name, (Psalm 119:132, Revelations 15:4).

REMEMBER THE SABBATH

We come and humbly admit that we do not remember the Sabbath day. Every day has become a day where we seek our own pleasure and our own entertainment. We have become foolish bridesmaids that do not keep our lamps filled. We do not take a day of rest as You require from us and have become tired and weary. We neither seek to please You or do good unto our neighbour. We live to please ourselves, every day of the week. You have set the Sabbath apart and we need to rest and honour You on this day. Forgive us for only seeking our own pleasure and becoming complacent about Your Sabbath.
