Webcast: The Opportunity of Journalistic Retreat
"Knowing The Truth " with Pastor Kevin Boling is a live, call-in radio program providing Doctrinal Dialog, Cultural Commentary and Insightful Interviews with some of today's foremost Christian authors and leaders. Note: Today marks the first broadcast in our New Programming Schedule. Beginning today we will broadcast the Knowing The Truth radio program on Wednesdays (as well as Tuesdays and Thursdays). The new mid-week program will be tagged as Worldview Wednesdays sponsored by World Magazine. Each week I will speak with someone from World re: a recent news item covered in their current issue .
As many of you know our modern news media is facing a crisis in financial stability. The 2009 State of the News Media Report used the following analogy to describe the situation facing mainstream news organizations "Imagine someone about to begin physical therapy following a stroke, suddenly contracting a debilitating secondary illness."
Ad revenues (once the financial blood bank for the News Industry) dropped by nearly 25% in just the last two years. This downturn has lead to bankruptcy for some, and massive layoffs for other organizations. By far the group within these organizations impacted most severely by the downsizing is the reporting department. In other words, Journalism itself is suffering during this crisis.
On the "Knowing The Truth" Radio Program today, we will discuss the current situation facing Journalism and seek to answer the question; "Does this crisis offer an opportunity for independent Christian Worldview Journalism to, not only grow, but thrive."
My guest on the program today says this situation does present a once in a lifetime opportunity and his news magazine plans to seize the opportunity and grow like never before.
My guest on the "Knowing The Truth" radio program will be Nickolas Eicher - Publisher of World Magazine. Nick recently wrote an article posted in the Nov. 21st edition of World Magazine about the topic we will discuss today.
