Recently, Time magazine's ran a cover story a special report entitled, "The State of the American Woman." The subitle of the report read; "A new poll shows why they are more powerful -- but less happy."

Throughout the article, the magizine's reporter, Nancy Gibbs, traces lists a number of changes brought about by the feminist revolution. Changes such as, the increase of the number of girls playing high school sports; the decrease in the number of female dropouts; the male, female student ratio on college campuses, etc.

But then she makes the following statement, "Among the most confounding changes of all is the evidence, tracked by numerous surveys, that as women have gained more freedom, more education and more economic power, they have become less happy."

According to this article, the unhappiness in woman seems to be attributed to their inability to have it all. To have all of the promise of feminism, without the "costs and casualties" experienced along the way. Some of the costs include the redefinition of womanhood, motherhood, and marriage.
