In I Corinthians 2:4 the apostle Paul said, “My speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the spirit and of power”. The gospel of Christ is a declaration. It is not to be presented as one of many options or as a concept. The gospel is not a question and answer period or a sharing session. It is the declaration of the glory of God in the salvation of chosen sinners through the blood and righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ. All the wisdom and philosophy of man cannot cause a dead man to hear. All of the oratory of the greatest speaker cannot overcome a mind that is enmity against God. All of the explanations and arguments of the greatest lawyers cannot convince the sinner of his sin or reveal to him the glory of God’s Redeemer. The hope of the preacher is that God will honor His gospel and accompany His gospel with the spirit of the living God. How do I know if God accompanies what I preach?
