The Love of God - Unconditional?
A popular concept among religious people in our day is "the unconditional love of God." We are told that God loves men unconditionally, just the way they are. Nothing could be farther from the truth! God would cease to be God if He loved any sinner just the way they are. God is holy! "He is of too pure eyes to behold iniquity." "The Lord trieth the righteous; but the wicked and him that loveth violence His soul hateth." God's love is in Christ! It is conditioned upon one being in Christ! Outside of Christ there is nothing but His wrath against sin. This concept dishonors Christ! "For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, no depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Rom. 8:38-39).
